Resume Length

One to two pages, 8.5 by 11-inch letter size


Because the creative director’s education and work experience are so important, a chronological resume format is recommended. Chronological resumes begin with the applicant’s contact information and an objective statement. This is followed by a reverse-chronological listing of employment and education, beginning with the most recent experience.

Skills are also very important. While these should be demonstrated within the job descriptions, a skills list should appear before, after, or in a column beside the work experience.

Combination and functional resume formats are not recommended for this position.


The design of your creative director resume should reflect the professionalism of the role you will play in the company. As a creative director, you can use your knowledge of computer software and design principles to create an appealing and unique resume template. How?

Avoid bright colors or distracting elements such as logos or graphics. You can group or highlight your text using line borders or blocks of muted colors. Leave plenty of margin around each block of text.

Creative Director Resume Section Headings
