If you are applying to a corporation, such as a resort or manufacturing facility, or if you have a strong background in the hospitality industry, a chronological resume format is recommended. This is the most commonly accepted resume format. Begin by listing your contact information and skills. Then, enumerate your work history and educational background in reverse-chronological order.

If applying to a private tour agency, a functional or combination resume may be acceptable. This is especially the case if you’ve been out of the workforce for a while or if your skillset is unconnected with your work and education.

Functional resumes begin with a qualifications summary, which highlights skills and accomplishments. Then, you may list your work experience and education without dates, arranging them in whatever order best highlights the necessary skillset.

A combination format, on the other hand, combines the functional resume’s qualifications summary with the reverse-chronological listings of the chronological resume.

University degrees are generally not required, but a number of degree programs may add weight to your resume. These include bachelor’s degrees in service management, hospitality management, business administration, business management, and entrepreneurial studies.

Work experience

Include your employment from at least the past 10 years. Experience in the hospitality industry is ideal. Use your resume job descriptions to highlight transferable skills, such as communication or customer service, in unrelated work experience.
