Agile business analysts strive to use adaptive techniques to aid the success of each project – minimizing risk, eliminating waste, and getting results. They communicate with stakeholders and work with development teams to create needed software and systems.

Agile business analysts may be hired by companies to work in-house, for a consultancy firm, or freelance. They often work closely with company stakeholders and in-house design teams.

A chronological resume format is recommended for agile business analyst resumes. This format begins with an optional resume objective statement, your contact information, and skills. Then, list your work history and education in reverse-chronological order.

Because an agile business analyst resume must be education intensive, combination and functional resume formats are not recommended.

How should an agile business analyst resume look? A professional appearance is the gold standard. You can easily achieve this by using an online resume template or by basing your design on one of our professional resume samples. Remember, as your work is computer-intensive, the design of your resume is the first place you can showcase your computer competency.

Select a simple, easy to read font such as Calibri or Arial. Use it throughout the document. Group your text into sections, and place a clear resume heading before each. Common headings include “Skills,” “Experience,” and “Education.” Leave a margin around each section of the text.

In the United States, it is not necessary to include a photo with your agile business analyst resume. In fact, an unsolicited photo could result in the rejection of your resume due to anti-discrimination laws.

Sections of a Resume

A number of sections are vital to your agile business analyst resume. These include:

  • Contact information
  • Skills
  • Work history
  • Education
  • Certifications

The aforementioned sections prove that you have the training necessary to perform your job well. You may decide to include additional sections that highlight other amiable qualities. For example, you could introduce yourself using a resume objective statement. This statement should catch the hiring manager’s attention, explaining your greatest accomplishments or career goals. Fluency in a language other than English is also valuable in an increasingly diverse global marketplace and should be included on your resume.

Resume Length

Generally, your resume should be limited to one page in length. On rare occasions, it may overflow onto a second page.

Agile Business Analyst Resume Section Headings

Education, certification, and skills are among the most important components of your agile business analyst resume.

Agile business analysts should have at least a bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT), computer science, or a related field. Some colleges and universities also offer graduate certificates in lean and agile practices.

Certifications & courses

In addition to a university or college degree, agile business analysts are also required to possess agile analysis certification (AAC).

Certification generally consists of a live, online exam. Taking the exam requires internet access and a computer equipped with a webcam and microphone. The two-hour exam is administered as a series of 85 scenario-based multiple-choice questions. Depending on the testing agency, other formats may be available.

DevOps certification is also available but not generally required. If you have any additional technical certifications, be sure to include these on your resume.

Each agile business analyst should have a high level of computer competency and be familiar with agile frameworks such as Kanban, Scrum, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). He or she should also understand DevOps, a set of software and IT operations practices.

The agile business analyst should also have excellent communication and leadership skills, as they will be required to communicate with stakeholders, work with and provide feedback to teams, keep good records, and listen to the goals and issues described by others. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and results orientation are additional beneficial qualities.
